Finished the first project

Well, I finished the first project and I must say I was proud of my knitting. The rows looked nice and neat. However, even though I follow the pattern like it said, one side was 8 inches long and the other was 5 1/2.  I did block my piece for the first time and saw what a difference it makes.  One side is 6 inches, even though the other stayed at 8 inches.

The next pattern is for a children jacket out of cotton.  I think I will make this for my cousin's daughter and hopefully it will fit. Right now I am more about the project that the outcome.  I like learning the new techniques in a simple step way.

My first book

The book that I am reading right  now is Knitting For the First Time by Veanessa-Ann. I am really excited about it because it definately starts with the basics and moves you into harder and harder categories.  For example: the first item is a dishrag with just the basic knit and purl stitch. Next is changing colors of yarn.  The say all the new things you are going to learn and just learn one or two new things each project which will be a big help for me.
Can't wait to post some photos of all I am making.

My first post!!

Here is my first post for this blog. What I hope to do is to put some reviews of books that I have read about knitting and what I think about them.  This is so hopefully I will be more encouraged to knit new things and to use up some of my stash and maybe even "spread the joy" of knitting to others. We will see how it goes.
